Adopting a dog with a story is very different than bringing home a puppy. One of the biggest challenges is making your dog feel safe, building the trust and bond and meeting the dog where they are at. Decompression, taking things slow and also adjusting your own emotions and expectations in the process.
Rescue dogs to me are super special. In fact, I never had a puppy. Even our family dogs were all rescue dogs. To me there is nothing more beautiful than seeing them transform. When they show their true personalities and feel safe.
We are in the same boat. I understand how overwhelming and sometimes lonely it can be to have a new rescue dog who might be reactive. Many opeple might not relate to your situation and how hard it can be. I'm with you and have your back - whether virtually or in person. You got this!
I'm the adoption support for all our Wadi Dog adopters in the UK who adopt one of our lovely street dogs and specialise in bully breeds and rescue dogs. I decided to specialise in bully breeds and rescue dogs as this is what I know best
And if'd you you'd just like to connect, then please reach out too. I love meeting fellow rescue dog lovers.
